Author John Russell Taylor. Born in 1891 he became central to the Anglo-Jewish artists that included Bomber, Gertler, Kramer and Rosenberg. Sadly he is not well known; a critic once said his work defied classification but was stated to be Neo-Romantic. Much of his work included dark atmospheric landscapes; his figures often looking more in common with Picasso. He dedicated much of his life to teaching. This work consists of 144 pgs all in near fine condition, including the d/j the same. At the top corners points of the front and rear boards there is a slight rubbing. Book includes photographs, blk/wht art work of pen/ink, drawings, oil on canvas, charcoal and watercolours within pags 18 - 112. Colour plates of oil on canvas can be found pags 113-128.
